How do people buy Yelp reviews?

Buy Yelp Reviews. Originally Answered: How can I find the best places to buy Yelp reviews?
You shouldn’t. It’s against Yelp’s terms of service and would constitute some form of fraud and false advertising.

Most fake reviews are pretty obvious, at least as obvious as fake troll accounts on Facebook — they have no friends (or form clusters of friends and upvotes with other fake accounts), their review history is spotty, the language isn’t normal, the narrative doesn’t match the establishment’s services, nobody knows them, their pictures are absent or stolen from somewhere else.

A very careful, hardworking troll factory could probably create a small army of convincing fake reviewers, but I don’t think most paid fakers are that sophisticated, the money just isn’t worth the effort.

Although the customer is unlikely to be caught, the civil penalties can be fairly severe. Your competitors can sue you, Yelp can sue you, and perhaps even the FTC and state agencies can sue you.

Plus, it’s just plain dishonest business. Why make a career out of being dishonest— is that what you want to be in life? Corruption brings down the level of society, it’s unfair to competitors and unfair to customers too. Might as well just go all the way and steal stuff.

Is it safe to buy Yelp reviews?

Buy Yelp Reviews. For example, it’s not going to cause fires, looting, personal assaults, or the closure of Walmart stores in areas of Chicago, if you buy a Yelp review.

On the other hand, posting a fraudulent review is potentially:

A violation of the Yelp TOS agreement
Misdemeanor or felony fraud, if you derive financial benefit from it
A great way to destroy your business credibility, if anyone ever finds out about it
The last one is interesting. There are “troll farms” that can actually be paid to post positive things, instead of negative things. The “interesting” part is that, if you pay for this sort of service, you are engaging in shady behavior which you probably don’t want to be disclosed.

So in 3 months or 6 months, you may get an email from the person or company you paid to post the glowing review on Yelp, threatening to change their review, post bad reviews, or disclose the fact you paid for the review in the first place.

Should you bother posting Yelp reviews?

Yelp allows me to express my creativity through my reviews and for that I am grateful.
The friends I have made through Elite Events and other Yelp activities have been a true joy.
Participating in the talk threads and experiencing the eccentricities of my fellow Yelpers has often been hilarious. Buy Yelp Reviews.
Elite Events have been consistently amazing and meeting fellow Yelpers in person is great fun.
IMPACT-
Once I became established, especially as a Yelp Elite I was stunned and humbled by the impact of my reviews.

Looking at Yelp’s “90-day views” feature I was amazed to see 186,000 views of my reviews!
Several businesses have changed their procedures or in some cases menus because of my reviews.
Two graduate students from two different universities have used my profile as part of their master’s thesis.
A high school teacher of an Advanced Senior Writing class used my profile as an example of persuasive writing.
The thousands of UFCs and compliments I have received continue to astound me.
One Yelp couple wrote to me to say that when they are considering a new restaurant, they look at each other and say, “What did Steven B. say?”
When I began Yelping, I never would have imagined that Yelp would become such an enjoyable part of my life and that I could have an effect on so many others as well! For me, Yelp has been a five-star experience.

Should I trust Yelp reviews on businesses?

A review is only as relevant as it applies to the current situation. As the value of Yelp is based on cumulative reviews, they are not very good at deleting old reviews.

The average restaurant employee turnover is 200–500% per year meaning that a restaurant staff changes over nearly completely every 2 to 6 months.

So, what is the value of a review written 3–5 years ago? Does it really reflect the current business? If a restaurant changes its ways and has 4 years of bad reviews and the last year is all good reviews, its star rating is still going to be in the 2–3 range. Does that really reflect the true quality of a restaurant?

Lastly, not all reviewers are treated equally. A 5-star review from a first-time reviewer has a 60–80% of being dismissed as not trusted by Yelp, but a 1-star review by anyone has a higher Yelp acceptance rate.

Why can’t you post comments on Yelp reviews?

I’d assume that Yelp’s lack of a review commenting system (other than the “public reply” feature for only the owner of the business) is a product design decision to encourage users to create higher-quality content.

Many times when building web products, the more features you add, the weaker your other features become. If you add two similar features, people will often use one feature over the other.

It’s in Yelp’s best interest to encourage more people to create reviews. In this case, if Yelp allowed comments on reviews, people may comment on an existing review rather than leaving their own. For example, if I saw a review that complained about the service at a restaurant, I might simply comment on that review and say “I had the same issue! Every time I come to this restaurant, the service was horrible and…” rather than leaving my own full review.

Also, comments can be very short while reviews are meant to be more lengthy and encourage reviewers to rate the place, add photos, and give more details about the location. For example, someone might leave a comment on a review saying “Agreed!” rather than leaving a full review with a rating and photos.

Should you trust the average Yelp review rating for restaurants? Why

Yes, of course. As a starting point, and with everything else being equal (two huge caveats), an establishment that motivates self-selected members of the public to write positive accounts of their experience is probably going to be a more enjoyable experience for a prospective customer than one that motivates the same crowd to write poor reviews.

There are some well-known limitations: various forms of fraud and manipulation, edge bias (people are more motivated to write about particularly good, bad, or unusual experiences), positive or negative bias (depending on the forum), reviewer ignorance, and differing motivations (reviewers showing off, currying favor, venting, trolling, etc). These things affect any review site.

Yelp, and every other place that compiles reviews, deals with each of these in its own way. Some are more effective than others but for the most part, Yelp has done a very good job given the choices it made about what kind of site it wants to be:

It’s a free site, and it does not require reviewers, readers, or businesses to pay
The site charges local businesses for premium business tools (which implies a large, aggressive direct sales force), and some national brand sponsorship
Reviews require accounts but for the most part not curated or moderated. There is a policy but no automatic enforcement that reviews must be about the experience of actual customers.
There is a reputation and social networking/community system built-in
There are lots of sponsored events and direct contact among reviewers and staff

Compared with other sites that review various things while simultaneously being part of the business (Amazon, eBay, Citysearch, TripAdvisor), Yelp’s approach seems to work pretty well. But people sometimes expect something they don’t expect out of those sites – that you can take the average rating at face value as to which choice is best for you. You wouldn’t dream of buying a book by simply asking what the highest-rated book is today. You’d want to read the actual reviews, the summary, try to learn about the author, subject of the book, why people like or dislike it and how, all to see if it’s for you. Just like a Quora answer – you don’t always appreciate what someone says until you give thought to who’s saying it.

Bottom line, the more knowledgeable you are, and the more thought and effort you put into understanding Yelp reviews, the more useful it is as a tool. And you also learn about the limitations and when to disregard it. Case in point – I was recently in Maui and had a hankering for some good fresh poke. Not knowing the island, and knowing the locals usually direct tourists to places they think the tourists want to go, I pulled the car over, did a search, and quickly found a modest market several blocks down a one-way street at the edge of town that I would never have found otherwise. The reviews among the Maui residents, and some Yelp / Facebook/contact list “friends” whose opinions I respect, were very positive. Sure enough, excellent poke. I’ve been turned on to many great places that way. By contrast, if you know nothing about dim sum and ask for the best Chinese restaurant in Chinatown — or more generally if you’re a casual user who takes everything at face value — you’re probably going to know less after searching Yelp than before.

How much do people get paid to do positive Yelp reviews?

Yelp resoundingly frowns on paid reviews and will ban users from writing them. They will also take action against businesses that buy reviews in some cases. In some jurisdictions buying fake reviews could even qualify as fraud perhaps, as it’s deliberately false and misleading communication designed to reap a financial gain.

Legitimate Yelp reviews are written simply because Yelpers want to provide honest, useful, information for other users—no other reason.

And if a business would resort to commissioning fake reviews, well, I tend to think it would resort to other underhanded practices and it’s a business I would not wish to do business with.

How can I get permanent Yelp reviews?

Originally Answered: How do I get permanent Yelp reviews?
The best way to get reviews is by building a solid foundation of regular customers. Reviewers are more likely to leave a good review if they’ve become your loyal customer over time, and as that happens you might notice reviews for your business start to show up on Yelp. This can take some months, but it’s worth the investment in sustainable growth.

To make this easier on yourself and build a loyal base, follow these tips:

– Communicate openly with your customers and learn from them about their experience.
– Follow up before/after visits or emails with new customer feedback
– Ask for feedback when there is an opportunity: like callbacks for appointments or restaurant visits
– Have good service so the customer doesn’t write negative reviews.

One good suggestion is to upload photos of the business and create an attractive profile page because when people are considering where to buy something, they often look up reviews of stores in their area and Yelp will show you reviews first if it has any.

The most important thing after that would be to keep on trying. Read your reviews, and do whatever it takes to make those happy customers happy again. Offer them freebies or discounts; give them items on the house – just get back in contact with them ASAP! Better yet, call them personally right then-and you’ll have your review updated before they know what happened!

How do you review on Yelp?

First, you create a profile. It must contain a photo to be considered credible. Second, you must visit the places you want to review and buy something from them. Yes, buying something creates a consumer interaction with the business and then because you did, you are eligible to write a review of the business. To make your reviews believable and rated higher, many are accompanied by photos.

For example, say you live in Mumbai and you love, love, love everything Mickey Mouse and you want to write a review about Disneyland. That’s great, but people who read reviews want to read about your consumer experience with Disneyland, so you would have to go there as a visitor and spend time and money to be able to write a credible review.

Another example would be that your friend you went out to eat with had a sandwich for lunch and told you they loved it, but you just wanted Starbucks. If you wrote a review about your friend’s sandwich, then that review would probably be deleted because you didn’t buy it nor eat any of it. Your review would be based upon the opinion of your friend, not you and that violates the TOS.

Creative writing is OK so long as you have had an actual consumer experience with that business.

Can Yelp reviews be anonymous?

Yelp is built around the “Real People, Real Reviews” model. Your profile name is expected to be your first name and last initial. It is STRONGLY encouraged that you post a REAL picture of yourself. The whole point is that you are standing up for your review and this gives it a lot of credibility!

So do folks abuse this? Of course, it’s the internet! Spend some time on Yelp and you’ll see profiles with no posted pictures. Savvy Yelpers call them Grey Heads for obvious reasons. You’ll also find some reviews with obviously fake names. I’m delighted to say that both of these are in the distinct minority.

So why did I say don’t bother? Savvy Yelpers will just ignore you because you have no credibility! If I am scrolling through the reviews of a business and I see a Grey Head or a fake name I just scroll on by and never read them and I’m just one of millions of Yelp users that do this! Your review is also much more likely to be filtered and moved to purgatory in the “Not Recommended” section.
